25 Famous Bible Verses Top Scriptures On Love, Strength, Hope & More
It is difficult to make a list of the best Bible verses – I mean they are all great – right? But, I decided to compile a list of the most famous Bible verses instead. This too is difficult, because different Christian circles use certain verses a lot more than others. That said, these are some of the popular gems that have become famous by their helpfulness and/or repetition. If you know of some other famous scriptures that you think should be included in this list please add them in the comments below…

On to the famous Bible verses!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. – 1 Cor 13:4-13
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. – Psalm 23
You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments. You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” – Exodus 20:3-17
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. – Philippians 4:13
But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:31
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. – Matthew 6:33
Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. – Joshua 1:8
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. – Ephesians 6:10-18
Proverbs 3-5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6
Psalms 37-4
Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. – Psalms 37:4
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. – Psalms 118:24
You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. – Isaiah 26:3
Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ – Matthew 22:37-39
Deuteronomy 31-6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. – Deuteronomy 31:6
A merry heart does good like a medicine; but a broken spirit dries the bones. – Proverbs 17:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. – Galatians 5:22-23
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? – Matthew 16:26
No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. – Matthew 6:24
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. – John 14:6
Proverbs 18-10
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. – Proverbs 18:10
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request. – 1 Chronicles 4:9-10
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. – Hebrews 11:6

      Lord, my heart is restless until it finds its rest in You. Thank You that
      in You all things are made new!

      All things are wearisome, more than one can say. The eye never has enough of seeing, nor the ear its fill of hearing (Ecclesiastes 1:8)

      Solomon’s thesis here is, All things are restless. He has observed that there is an inherent restlessness in everything. In fact, it is so widespread that no one can possibly describe all the restlessness of life.

      Not accurate according to what version of the bible ? The bible is the oldest print we have and there are many versions in every known language…. MEN have translated this book again and again over the years. At this point it is wise to merely pray to God to open our minds, heart, and eyes so that HE may give us the understanding we need.

    13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

    Romans 8:38-39
    38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    Matthew 5:13-16
    13″You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
    14″You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

    Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. 1 John 5:13-15 NIV
    I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he will hear us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of him.

    Romans 9:35-39
    Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to seperate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    and an appropriate time 3 for every activity 4 on earth: 5

    3:2 A time to be born, 6 and a time to die; 7

    a time to plant, and a time to uproot what was planted;

    3:3 A time to kill, and a time to heal;

    a time to break down, and a time to build up;

    3:4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

    a time to mourn, and a time to dance.

    3:5 A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones;

    a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

    3:6 A time to search, and a time to give something up as lost; 8

    a time to keep, and a time to throw away;

    3:7 A time to rip, and a time to sew;

    a time to keep silent, and a time to speak.

      I think it’s hilarious when people say they love scripture and say they want it tattoed on them even though there is a very specific verse in Leviticus that says you shouldn’t tattoo any part of you skin or make cuts in your flesh for the dead. It’s just really enterntaining to me.

      I remember a time when I was so thrilled to understand one or two bible verses. As time went on, I grew and learned more and more. I’ll always be learning. I have learned to that there is a log in my eye much greater than the speck in my brothers eys. Let’s be patient with our brothers. We all started somewhere and we all loved the scripture we learned even if it was one at a time…I didn’t learn about piercings until after I had my ears pierced. It made me very sad, but I know God loves me anyway. I pray Christ’s Peace adn His Love to reign in our lives.

      Have you ever read the whole chapter of Leviticus 19? There are lots of things we are told not to do, for example verse 27 says ““ ‘Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.” (Leviticus 19:27 NIV84) I’m pretty sure Christians have done that one before. You included. There are some things that you have to take as cultural, God was talking to Israel. And yes many of those things we are still suppose to follow. But you also have to look at the way it is being said. When it says ““ ‘Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:28 NIV84) God was talking about the practice of mourning the dead. Not about getting a bible verse tattooed on yourself. I think a tatto of a bible verse could lead to great oppeetunities to witness to people.

      I am a believer in our Saviour and I am proud and privileged to be one of his children. I do have ear and a nose piercing, if I were to get a tattoo I would like something religious, as God and my faith are the only things that won’t go out of fashion for me! 🙂 I think we need to realise that young people like to express themselves and sometimes aren’t aware of parts of the bible that includes no inking or bleeding; however I interpreted that as a sacrifice of other religions at ‘funerals’. I am not nearly as well read as you obvously are but I do believe and I don’t think anyone who gets a religious tattoo would ever try to be offending anyone! I hope that this doesn’t upset you but I think faith is such a strong thing; we need to celebrate peoples different ways of celebrating their faith in God! I hope some agree! I would like a quote regarding forgiving others who trespass against us, I know the basics but am looking for more of a forgiveness quote, something perhaps that is slightly inspirational!??! Sorry if Im asking too much! 🙂

      Hey Ryan, You have to realize the context. God was guiding the Israelites at the time, morally as well as literally. God set down rules that would of helped the Israelites stay pure and keep them away from other tribes ritual’s, some of these rules (like tattoos) don’t pertain to us anymore in the 21st century. For example at this time other tribes around the israelites would tattoo themselves all over, for their tribe or rituals or for mourning the dead, which would keep the focus off God and on to whatever idol they were worshiping. When reading the old testament you have to realize not everything that God told the Israelites at the time, while it was the right thing to do in the circumstances, applies to us today. (Stephanie makes great points below, My youth pastor has a tatoo of a bible verse on his wrist)

    Great information. Very helpful to me about a potential beginning into the blogosphere! I have two sister-in-laws encouraging me to write and I love to do it. I too have a favorite verse(s). I personally believe it is when Jesus, himself, tolds us exactly who he was by quoting Isaiah 61, who himself was referencing the 25th Chapter of Leviticus and the Year of Jubilee! It is the first “sermon” Jesus spoke. I believe they are some of the most beautiful words ever spoken. ” The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;He hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and the recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18,19 (KJV)

    “when the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles” (Psalm 34:17)

    MY FAVOURITE QUOTES:

    2 Corinthians 5:7
    …Walk by Faith not by Sight..

    Proverbs 4:18-19
    The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.

    Isiah 40:26
    Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

    Isiah 42:5
    He who created the heavens and stretched them out who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it.

    Isaiah 55:10-11
    As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
    so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
    It will not return to me empty,
    but will accomplish what I desire
    and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

    Proverbs 3:19-20
    By wisdom the Lord laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the deeps were divided and the clouds let drop the dew.

    Proverbs 16:9
    In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

    NIV

    I also find the following PROVERBS quite amusing & TRUE 🙂

    17:12 Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool in his folly.

    11:22 Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.

    All the best in growing your relationship with God.
    I wish everyone ceased following worldly culture and followed the word of the Lord & the plan he has for each of us.
    I find it so awesome how some people heard their calling from God and they followed it- quit life long careers, sold up their house, gave away their posessions and went into the great unknown WITH FAITH alone & came to live a better life than ever solely by trusting in God.
    I hope we all will have enough courage/trust to do that when our time comes . . . That’s why I strive to Walk by Faith Not by Sight
    (2 Corinthians 5:7)

    Thank you so much guys especially at Bob for such a blessed site. May God bless you all abundantly in your needs and may this sites contents (bible versus and individual testimonies) always be fruitfull in drawing the lost and scattered flock (man) closer to the shephard (Jesus).
    I started reading the bible recently and trying my best to leave behind my past for i never found any good been apart from God. With this site i have finally found bible versus that will really help me relate to situations and be a better embassader here.
    Now i see my life florishing like a tree planted by the river side when i walk with the Lord. Have never been short of anything for i have placed my trust in him. Psalms 1:1-6 is one to meditate on.

      I, as a 16year old, understand every verse posted here. My little brother, age 13, understands every scripture here.

    MARK 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins. Numbers 6:24-26 The LORD bless you and keep you;the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
    the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace…
    Everyday- I have to say a verse to myself- it is my weapon. When I face many adversities I remember that I am getting much closer to God. The devil will never mess with you unless he knows he already has you. So I rejoice in all my trials and tribulations and I always ask for uncommon favor…from where I have been in life- i refuse to give up trusting in the Lord- it is not and will never be an option. The bible does *not* instruct us to forget sins, but only to forgive them. (Forgive our tresspassers /debtors as we would like to be forgiven)

      One preacher used to give this example:

      If you walk into a dark alley and get mugged and badly beaten, you should forgive your attacker. However, you should not forget that he lurks in that particular alley, and if you ever enter that alley again and find him there, you should not forget what happened previously.

      I also need to add, you should be willing and ready to forgive, but if the guilty person does not want forgiveness then you forgive them “in your heart”, and move on.

    I find myself refreshed, replenished, reinvigorated, refilled when I read the incorruptible seed which is the precious Word of God. I have read many inspirational books written by different authors but I have found no treasure in them regarding the well-being of my life. Meditating deeply on the Word of God gives birth to having peace with Our Saviour, prosperity, success, comfort, insight, encouragement, name them. Its through the prestigious Word of God that everything came into being and its full of divine power. May my Lord Jesus Christ through His Spirit give me the deeper understanding, revelation of the scriptures in Jesus Mighty Name and let any power of darkness that may oppose the Word of God into my life be disgraced, fall down and die completely. Bravo for your good job and may the rewarding Father meet all your needs in abundance.

    by:Nikki
    Why does the world consume us all
    While Lucifer is waiting for us to fall
    Are we really blinded by life it’s self?
    all the busyness and all the wealth?
    My heart yearns for SOMETHING I cannot see
    But another SOMETHING seems to keep me away from the mystery
    Call to me oh little voice in my head
    For I cannot heart Thee but the world instead
    Lucifer has a mighty sword and commands many
    But I know You have one also and can thwart any
    Save me O Lord from the darkness within
    As I yell for help to protect me from my sin.

    @Lauren

    I can tell you one thing that everyday someone gives their life to the Lord all the angels in heaven rejoice, the day you woke up and said I wanna follow you Lord the angels sounded their trumpets and all the heavens wept in Joy,

    God does not require us to succeed and be perfect christians, all he asks for is that we try with Godly intent, and be of sober mind when we do try, often people get discouraged by their short coming and when they have fallen into sin, they believe that there is no way out, like they are in a box and they can’t get out, and my advise to everyone is that no matter how bad you think your sin was, God will forgive you, we humans will always have conditions for things! Like I’ll only take you back if, or it can only be forgiven if, God does not work that way, he does not have conditions, he loves us unconditionally, he welcomes us back with open arms, all we need to do is ask him for forgiveness, and he washes away our sins, an we are pure in the sight of God!

    The Bible says, we need to forgive 7X70 times everyday for the same sin! I’m so Glad to say that our God really is an awesome God,

    Thank you for allowing me to share with you all, and may you be blessed in your walks with God everyday, and may you be kept safe by Gods mighty works!

  117. Matthew says

    April 28, 2011 at 10:03 pm

    No one’s mentioned my favorites yet…

    Philippians 4:4– Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: rejoice!

    Psalm 42: As the deer panteth o’er the water, so my soul longeth after thee. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? Day and night I weep, and my tears are my only sustenance, whilst men say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” My heart breaks when I remember the past, when I went with the multitudes to the house of God and led them as they walked along, singing and shouting praise to God. Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your faith in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of Jordan, the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar. Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?” My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes keep asking me, “Where is your God?” Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your faith in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

    The first one is pretty straightforward… no matter what’s going on in our lives, we should REJOICE in His holy name!

    The second one is my favorite, although I generally say one verse when asked.

    Psalm 42:11– Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your faith in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

    This one (and the whole psalm) is saying something similar. Although at times it may seem like God isn’t there, and our enemies taunt us and hurt us and make us wonder if He’s truly there, all we need to do is remember our faith, and all will be well. Again: no matter what we live through, no matter what we’ve done: God is always with us. Simply put: never be sad, you have no reason to be: the Most Holy is looking out for us, protecting us. Sadness, fear, anger: all are meaningless when compared to God.

    Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you. ~ 1 Peter 5:7

    I will give you peace like a river. ~ Isaiah 66:12

    Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day already has enough trouble of its own. ~ Matthew 6:34

    Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7

    If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him. ~ 1 John 5:14-15

    We all are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory. ~ 2 Corinthians 3:18

    Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven times. ~ Matthew 18:21-22

    God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love, self-control, and of a sound mind. ~ 2 Timothy 1:7

    For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven. ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1

    He is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us. ~ Ephesians 3:20

    I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. ~ Romans 12:1-2

      Julie, please note that the Bible does not say in Acts 2:38 that speaking in tongues would be an evidence of having received the spirit. This is a very difficult topic. The holy spirit works in our lives in many ways. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us the fruit of the spirit in our lives is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self-control.

      “…and you shall receive the gift of the holy spirit. And this promise is to you, and your children, and to all of are afar off, as many as our Lord God shall call.”

    Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

    Isaiah 54:17 ‘No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. this is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is thier vindication from me’ declares the LORD.

    Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, ‘Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.

    This makes me choke back tears.
    Isaiah 53: 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
    4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
    5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
    6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
    7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
    8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
    9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
    10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
    11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
    12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

      Mark 7:17-19

      17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. 18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

  169. Mark Abecia says

    January 8, 2012 at 4:35 pm

    To Quinna Bell and Amanda – you can read the Beatitudes. It’s Matthew 5:3-12.

    And for the rest who are going through very hard times, you can read the entire Matthew,Mark,Luke, and John. Before, when I have had one of the worst times ever in my life, I would drift away from God and do things that he doesn’t want me to do. I would do that for a while and feel guilty afterwards, so I’d read M-M-L-J again and get back with God, and then do evil things again, and then get back with God, again. This cycle kept going for a long time until I finally had peace.

    One of the best things I’ve done, also, is I downloaded the app called “Bible” in my iPhone; this app should be also available in Android and other operating systems. What it did was it allowed me to have a narrator read the Bible according to the version (I use the NIV narrator) I liked, and just listened to it; anywhere and whenever available.

    I listened to the NIV narrator before I went to sleep (with headphones), etc., and I’ve read M-M-L-J many times prior and have had similar effect to what I will be describing… but this one allowed me to take in God’s words with minimal effort and allowed my emotions to flow while still under His words, and the effect was overwhelming and so comforting – I felt God was with me the whole time I was listening. And that was really the biggest thing when I was having very great sorrow… I felt so alone, and I was alone, literally, and the world seemed to come down on me, and I felt God wasn’t there… but by being able to listen to God’s words, and being able to “see” Jesus reveal himself through M-M-L-J, the narration forced God to be there with me in my most trying times… he became my comforter.

    So I hope that advise will help you and comfort you also. I believe that a person cannot grow in Christ and in Spirit without first being given a very clear picture of who He is… and M-L-J-K is where he fully revealed himself(I believe/I’m not a Biblical scholar) and it’s a very good, if not it is the primary area, where a person can authenticate his truth.

    As of now, I continue to try to grow, and try to remain in Him, and I hope someday I will have grown enough that I could be described as his good ambassador.

    Thank you for reading, and I hope you will find peace also, as I did.
    – Mark

  171. Mark Abecia says

    January 8, 2012 at 7:44 pm

    Also, I’ve had a lot of favorite quotes. But this one is my latest one, and it’s a realization for me, and I hope that it serves as an encouragement to you also… that we need to remain, and keep try to keep growing in God, because according to this:

    1 Peter

    18 And,
    “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
    what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”

    I don’t know what level of growth do we have to have had in God to be called “righteous.” But this says it’s hard for the righteous to be saved… so if it’s hard, even for those who God calls as righteous… then we really, really have to try to not just remain, but grow, and become as much as like him, to ensure our place with Him when we leave this world.

    That’s just naming a few. They are all so good and divine it is hard to choose. How can anyone deny that this book was written vicariously by God, a supreme being?

    LUKA 21:7-19

    Teacher,” they asked, “when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?”

    8 He replied: “Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them. 9 When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”

    10 Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

    12 “But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. They will hand you over to synagogues and put you in prison, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name. 13 And so you will bear testimony to me. 14 But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15 For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. 17 Everyone will hate you because of me. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 Stand firm, and you will win life.

    My favourite verses in the Bible as in James chapter 1 verse 22-25. Do what Gods teaching says; when you only listen and do nothing, you are fooling yourselves. Those who hear Gods teaching and do nothing are like people who look at themselves in a mirror. They see their faces and then go away and quickly forget what they look like. But the truly happy people are those who carefully study Gods perfect that makes people free, and they continue to study it. They do not forget what they heard, but they obey what Gods teaching says. Those who do this will be made happy.

    You might have heard a slightly different version but as I am a kid I have taken this from a Youth Bible.

    I HAVE to add this one here because it speaks truth to the skeptic…and I was one of those people for a long time. It’s 2 Peter 1:16

    For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 18And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

    19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

    This isn’t blind and watered down faith….WE SAAAAAAAW HIM RAISE THE DEAD!!!!…WE SAW HIM HEAL THE SICK!!!!!…WE HEARD THE VOICE FROM HEAVEN!!!….but more than that…we have a MORE SURE WORD! WHAT could possibly be more SURE than SEEING AND HEARING IT HAPPEN!!!!? Prophecy!!!! OH Praise God!!! I love this verse. It’s EXACTLY what a skeptic like me needed to hear. I always thought that faith was blind. It’s NOT! Faith is the substance of things hoped for…the EVIDENCE of things not seen. And this is awesome evidence from a man who said…YO!! Chuck out the religion…I’m here to tell you the sky is blue…the sun is shining…and JESUS IS LORD! FACT! God bless!

    I am looking for a bible verse for a foot tattoo, so not too big, that has both faith and love in it. My sister wants to get “faith, hope and love” and I want to get something similar. So far my choices are the fruits of the spirit (maybe a little long), “walk by faith”, “love never fails” or “…but the greatest of these is love” continuing hers because we want to get them done together. If anyone can help me out with one I have yet to think of that would be great!

    I love this prayer of Jesus, He prayed for me…………… so I would know that Abba Father loves me just as much as he Love his Son. WOW

    Jesus Prayer
    John 17 : 20 “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. 21 I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. 22 “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. 23 I am in them and you are in me.

    May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me.

    24 Father, I want these whom you have given me to be with me where I am. Then they can see all the glory you gave me because you loved me even before the world began!

    And he has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.
