Stress-free productivity: GTD review

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Productivity

t is basically about improving your time management skills and as the title implies, getting things done more efficiently to live a less stressful life. I have read a couple similar books, Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Zen to Done and a few other generic time-management type books.

What the Bible really says about prosperity

What the bible really says about prosperity

I recently received an email from a reader asking me about some prosperity verses. I decided to dig in and do a bit more thorough study about it. I noticed a couple things that I hadn’t before about Biblical prosperity.

Christians and Debt

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance, Debt Help

what the bible says about christians and debt

Should a Christian be in Debt? The Bible makes it clear that being in debt is not God’s best for us. I haven’t found anything to indicate that it is a sin for a Christian to be in debt

Primerica Review: the good and bad

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Career & Work, Managing Money, Saving Money

I have been to quite a few multi-level marketing recruiting meetings over the years. I consider myself to be an open-minded person, so I don't mind meeting with the recruiters and really learning what the company is all about. It helps that I don't have much desire to follow the crowd and don't have a problem saying no or leaving when I realize it is not what I was interested in. I met with someone from Primerica a few months back, and just got a call from a different recruiter a few days ago. Since they seem to be growing, I figured I would share my thoughts and see what everyone else thinks.

Is Primerica a legit company? Here are the pros and cons of Primerica from my perspective… I have been to quite a few multi-level marketing recruiting meetings over the years and I don’t mind meeting with the recruiters and really learning what the company is all about.

Would Jesus have an emergency fund?

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance, Saving Money

Would Jesus have an emergency fund?

I talk a lot about the importance of having an emergency fund and how it is a necessary ingredient to a sound financial plan. But, I thought we should step back and ask the necessary question, “Would Jesus have an emergency fund?”

Budgeting is like baking cookies

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Budgeting, Managing Money

budgeting is like baking cookies

For some reason the word “budget” has an interesting effect on most people causing them to cringe in pain more than the thought of going to the dentist. It really shouldn’t be as painful as people make it seem. If done correctly, it should give you MORE freedom to get what you want. If you think of a budget as a plan “that takes away all the fun” or eliminates your ability to get things you want, then you are doing it wrong.

Buying a wedding ring from Amazon.com

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Saving Money

Wedding rings on amazon.com

I bought my wife’s engagement ring from Amazon.com and I learned a few things in the process… When I began shopping for my wife’s engagement ring, I started browsing “traditional” jewelry stores to get a ballpark figure for what I could get with the amount I had saved up. Like most other purchases I make, I did my homework and learned about the four C’s (color, cut, clarity, carat) so that I could make an educated buying decision…

How to budget with Capital One 360 (Formerly ING Direct)

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Budgeting, Debt Help, Managing Money, Saving Money, Simplify

Want to know how to budget? Well, ING Direct is my favorite budget tool. Here are the steps how I budget with ING Direct. You could probably use this same technique at other banks, but I will show you why it is more beneficial at ING Direct.
