I remember sitting in my cubicle, with cloth walls surrounding me – or should I say caving in on me – with the sterile glow of a fluorescent light above my head.
I had to stand up and look 50 yards in either direction just to catch a glimpse of sunlight.
I still remember the best few minutes of my day were when I got to walk underneath a huge tree that stood just outside the building near the entrance of my corporate day job.
To do this day, I don’t really understand why that tree inspired me to believe that I could start a business, but it did.
I would walk under that tree and just dream of the freedom to be able to run my own business, while exercising creativity and not be stifled by the corporate machine.
As odd as it sounds, if that tree wasn’t there during those tough times when I was mustering all the energy just to believe that it was possible, I don’t think I would be where I am today.
Occasionally I drive by almost as if to say “thank you” to the tree that helped set me free.
I know this all sounds pretty dramatic, but it was real for me.
And as a result I know how important it is to have something to hang on to for inspiration.
So today I want to share with you a video interview with a friend of mine who had a similar journey to mine. He is a very talented entrepreneur and is just an all-around great guy.

Awesome video interview with your friend, scrivener coach! Thank you for posting it to your website. The video addressed so many of the issues I’ve been dealing with. It gave me practical strategies and most of all, inspired me to keep going…mistakes and all. Thanks again!
You are welcome Kate! Glad it helped!
You always keep me up to date with all the relevant information about handling finances the Christian way, Bob. I appreciate… The video has been so insightful and has addressed some issues I am facing as a new business owner. The procrastination bit hit me hard! Thanks again!!
Thanks Musinguzi – I know what you mean about procrastinating – it is a bear to overcome!
I too found the video to be awesome. As a matter of fact I plan to play it again on my drive home today. I have an idea conceptualized in my head and have let the fear as well as the idea that it has to be perfect right out of the gate. I am inspired to really get out there and get it done before the end of the year. Thanks again.
Go for it Tomeaka!

Hey Bob,
I am so glad that I came across your website and blog! I felt like you guys were discussing the current situation that my business partner and I am in right now! With my limited time constraints (full-time job, getting married in a couple of months, graduate student, etc.) and my partner who has a full-time job, wife and two children, it has been a real challenge to find time and keep moving forward. I have been very blessed to have a business partner that is a good, Christian man. We definitely have differing personalities, which usually compliment one another well. I am very strategic, see things in the long run, and willing to jump right in, and my partner is more analytical and likes to perfect things before proceeding. This has been great for the both of us!
Really enjoyed the video. Working on getting an affiliate – email list business up and going. Struggling day to day just to do what I need to do. Have been beaten down by others a lot in life so don’t have much encouragement from others, but his was encouraging.
thanks
I have always had difficulties putting my ideas into practice because of fear. Today I look back and see that everything was worth it, this feeling that I feel is priceless.
