Giving is giving, right? Not if you’re a Christian. There are ways to give — and God wants us to give — and there are ways we shouldn’t give. One way we shouldn’t is giving publicly. As Christians, we’re told to give in secret.
Giving doesn’t always involve opening your wallet. Some of these unforgettable givers did indeed make amazing financial contributions to God’s Kingdom work, but others are amazing because they gave in other ways. Whatever the type of giving, I offer a “gentle challenge” for each, in hopes that you — like me — will become a better giver.
The attitude behind it really matters. There is a huge difference between buying stuff that you feel (or are) obligated to, and intentionally (and cheerfully) giving something to another person. So if you need a little boost to your giving attitude this year, do a little meditating on the scriptures below…
