Why God’s way takes longer

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance

Why God's way takes longer

As I was staring at this tree I began to realize that trees grow slowly. You plant a seed for a tree and it takes a while to sprout and takes a while to grow to a decent size.Grass and even plants, on the other hand, grow a lot faster. They sprout up quickly and sometimes you can even notice growth one day to the next. I have been enjoying watching this rapid growth with all of the plants in my vegetable garden.

5 lessons from the garden about fruit bearing

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance

fruit-bearing

Who doesn’t want to be more loving, joyful, at peace, patient, kind, full of goodness, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled? Each of those are the fruit that the Bible says we should be bearing (John 15:16). I know I would love to see each one of those more in my own life – wouldn’t you? So, what do we need to do to bear more fruit?

Is it OK to Pray for Money?

written by Tim | Biblical Personal Finance

It’s no surprise that the economy has taken its toll on people’s finances. If you’re feeling the pressure to provide for your family, you might question whether or not it’s OK to pray for money.

Prosperity Gospel, Poverty Gospel, and the Gospel

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance

Yesterday an article was published on TheSimpleDollar where Trent shared his opinions about the “Prosperity Gospel”. I read the article, read the comments, and had some thoughts that I wanted to write about – so here we are. In the article Trent made clear all of his misgivings with the Prosperity Gospel and at the […]

Why does God give wealth?

written by Guest | Biblical Personal Finance

Why is it that God gives us wealth? Could it be that He gives it in order that we could help advance His Kingdom?

Whatever you put your hand to will prosper …

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance

It's easy to say that we want God to prosper what we are doing, but I have noticed that most times in my life when things aren't prospering like I want, it isn't because God didn't hold up His end of the bargain, but that I didn't hold up mine. Usually after prayer and re-evaluation, I can quickly figure out what I was or wasn't doing that was preventing things from prospering like I wanted.

For example, in Psalm 1 it is says that we need to be doing things God’s way and staying in the Word and then what we put our hand to prospers.

The Biblical Prosperity debate

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance

I have read a few articles recently discussing biblical prosperity and I am just getting a little bit frustrated with the whole thing. On one side you have people who insist on being poor because they think that it is more righteous to do so and on the other I am finding some people so caught up in storing up treasures for themselves on earth, that they are missing God’s plan for their life.

What the Bible really says about prosperity

What the bible really says about prosperity

I recently received an email from a reader asking me about some prosperity verses. I decided to dig in and do a bit more thorough study about it. I noticed a couple things that I hadn’t before about Biblical prosperity.
