Being owed money & striving to pass the test

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance, Simplify

being owed money and striving to pass the test

I once heard someone say, “challenges are just wonderfully disguised opportunities for growth.” I really do believe it to be true. Just like a strong physical body requires exercises that push it beyond what is comfortable, so a strong character requires challenges that aren’t comfortable. My newest challenge is that an advertiser owes me a […]

Why does God give wealth?

written by Guest | Biblical Personal Finance

Why is it that God gives us wealth? Could it be that He gives it in order that we could help advance His Kingdom?

Whatever you put your hand to will prosper …

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance

It's easy to say that we want God to prosper what we are doing, but I have noticed that most times in my life when things aren't prospering like I want, it isn't because God didn't hold up His end of the bargain, but that I didn't hold up mine. Usually after prayer and re-evaluation, I can quickly figure out what I was or wasn't doing that was preventing things from prospering like I wanted.

For example, in Psalm 1 it is says that we need to be doing things God’s way and staying in the Word and then what we put our hand to prospers.

Should you tithe while trying to get out of debt?

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance, Debt Help

Tithing is a fiercely debated topic as you would expect with anything that seems to not make sense. I still wonder in amazement at how so many of God's principles are absolute foolishness to non-christians... I mean who in their right mind would give expecting to have more?

Being in debt and Tithing… I can’t even count how many readers have emailed me asking me about whether or not they should tithe while getting out of debt. Tithing is a fiercely debated topic (read comments on the post I wrote called Tithing in the New Testament for proof) as you would expect with anything that seems to not make sense. I still wonder in amazement at how so many of God’s principles are absolute foolishness to non-christians… I mean who in their right mind would give expecting to have more?

The parable of the ten foolish virgins

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance

the parable of the ten foolish virgins

Just like with all of the parables that Jesus used to teach valuable lessons, there is some wisdom to be gained from the parable of the 10 virgins. As with most things in life, some were wise, some were foolish, and both reaped what they sowed. I have posted the whole parable below as a refresher… The parable of the ten virgins… At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise.

The Biblical Prosperity debate

written by Bob Lotich, CEPF® | Biblical Personal Finance

I have read a few articles recently discussing biblical prosperity and I am just getting a little bit frustrated with the whole thing. On one side you have people who insist on being poor because they think that it is more righteous to do so and on the other I am finding some people so caught up in storing up treasures for themselves on earth, that they are missing God’s plan for their life.
